His rampage forced many dragons to be killed, while others—such as Igneel, Grandeeney, and Metalicana—sealed themselves inside their respective Dragon Slayer children as a planned sacrifice to survive and later fight Acnologia, not merely as a hiding measure. Acnologia was not the sole survivor of that ancient era; rather, he continued to hunt Mages for sustenance.
