Within the events of the 2012 film, Gajeel Redfox's role is limited to a brief cameo at the Fairy Tail guildhall. In Their Own Story

The rescue mission began when Natsu led a team including Gajeel Redfox, Panther Lily, Juvia Lockser, and Momon into Veronica. Their goal was to save Éclair after Dist's forces destroyed the Fairy Tail guildhall. As they fought through Dist's henchmen, Duke Cream combined the stone halves and summoned a giant, non-avian phoenix monster. Amidst the battle, Gajeel stood with his guildmates as the situation escalated. When Dist pushed Duke Cream aside to seize the immortality for himself, Natsu intervened in a duel. Eventually, the phoenix began absorbing magic for a final attack. It was during this critical moment that Makarov and the rest of Fairy Tail arrived with an arrow taken from the Magic Council. Gajeel remained part of the united front as Natsu and Erza used the arrow to destroy the stone inside the phoenix's eye, neutralizing the cursed magic.
